Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, said Thursday he would propose to release the two Koreas, North and South through the initiative of a joint procession or a team in the Olympic Winter Games scheduled in 2018 in the city of Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Rogge explained: "There can be symbolic steps such as a convoy of a joint (the two Koreas in the provision of the mission to participate in the Olympics)," he said, adding that the two Koreas can play in the Olympics team in common.

Rogge said that in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, "a procession entered the two teams with each other in the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

But the IOC president, who is currently in the Japanese capital Tokyo to attend the centenary celebration of the Japanese Olympic Committee, said that North Korea will not participate in its southern neighbor to host Olympic events in 2018.
